2 FILMS BY DANIELLE ARBID on DVD now
From Lebanon to Syria through Jordan and Egypt, Alone With War (which received many awards including the video Silver Leopard in Locarno Film Festival in 2000 and the audiovisual Prize Albert Londres in 2001) and On Borders take us backstage in a region branded by civil wars. By confronting the inhabitants of Beirut to a deliberately denied past and by driving around the tortuous roads of the Middle East, close to a country that has two names, Palestine/Israel, Lebanese director Danielle Arbid (A Lost Man, In the Battlefields) wakes up painful memories and attempts to figure out a world she does no more really understand. Alone With War and On Borders are now available on a same DVD, with optional French, Arabic and English subtitles. The DVD also includes an interview with Danielle Arbid.
THE DARK ROOM on DVD now!
"In 14th-century France, Aliénor breaks with the codes governing girls’ behavior and does as she wishes. The King of France grants her the hand of her childhood love, but her new husband deserts her immediately after the ceremony. Undeterred, she sets out after him, traveling to Siena to bring him back. Questerbert’s first feature is a sparkling modernist adaptation of a tale from the Decameron, with cinematography by Emmanuel Machuel (Bresson’s L’argent, Oliveira’s A Taling Picture). Featured at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival at Directors' Fortnight." -Sam DiIorio. Available now on DVD and video-on-demand (DTR) with optional English subtitles.

THE GOOD OLD NAUGHTY DAYS [DECONSTRUCTED] on DVD
In the beginning: a fresh and impertinent composition of twelve licentious short films from early last century. Back then, these oddities in the heritage of cinema were screened in the waiting rooms of brothels. Restored by the French Archives of the National Center of Cinematography, this program w...
Follow Jean Paul Civeyrac's updated news
Jean Paul Civeyrac’s films are like chamber films –in the sense of a chamber music: there are very few instruments that are played, there is no orchestration; mere themes (love, the disappearance of a loved one, the mingling of bodies…) are played by a few interpreters. It is not a repetition becaus...
